James Johnson showed an amazingly distorted pecan
platter that had begun to lose its shape within a few minutes of turning.
Roger Arnold showed us a string steady-rest that he used to carve his long
goblet for the club challenge. Anna Rachinsky brought a hollow natural edged
form of pecan. Jerre Williams showed an off-center ambrosia maple platter
that he learned to turn at SWAT.
Barbara Hausman showed several pieces of Texas
ebony and fused glass that she made, combining two crafts to great effect.
Don Kaiser, making “square” boxes felt that they needed a little something
so he made tops of contrasting woods. The boxes are hackberry and maple, the
tops are purpleheart and spalted cherry.
